Earthquaker Devices reverb Afterneath V3

Welcome to your new Afterneath, the otherworldly reverb enhanced by EarthQuaker Devices. The Afterneath sounds like his look, a wizard springing from an imaginary cave and ready for battle. You are the sorcerer, or the witch, and the cave is the signal for your instrument, vast, expansive and magical. Do you want to come in? So roll your 20-sided die! Inside, a reflection of light from an unknown source catches your eye and you notice a bizarre glow on the cave walls. You approach the cave walls timidly. As you gently place your hand on the cave wall, you feel the rock move. The cave is alive! Worried, you blow loudly and that noise echoes through the underground landscape. On closer inspection, it would appear that the repeats in your voice are actually a swarm of short digital delays that can be used to create wild, cavernous reverbs or short rhythmic delays with odd characteristics. Take a moment to assess your Intelligence and Wisdom scores as well as your inventory of magical spells before proceeding any further. You have 7 spells… Are you going to cast the Length spell, which controls the length of the reverb drop? And the Diffuse one, which adjusts the diffusion of the reverb? With your magic wand (or just the setting) at minimum, the reverb is sharper and with more attack, while at maximum it is more ambient and neutral. Overwhelmed with fear, you call yourself Dampen. As you cast it you notice that a counter-clockwise variation makes a brighter sound, while waving your magic wand the other way around you hear a darker sound with softer treble. It almost sounds like your magic is changing the density of the cave walls and thus the sonic characteristics of the reverb! On another page of your magic book is Drag which separates the individual digital delay lines pulling them from the very structure of time and space to an unknown horizon from which they will never return. The higher Drag positions will bring the delay lines closer together for a more reverb-like effect. With Drag to the left the delay lines move away for a ping-pong-style delay effect. The Drag can be controlled in CV or by an expression pedal thanks to the EXP input on the side and according to 9 different modes selected thanks to the Mode setting. These modes are: unquantized, unquantized with variation, unquantized volt / octave, chromatic scale, major scale, minor scale, pentatonic scale, octaves & fifths and octaves. These modes dramatically change the way Drag works, especially when using a CV or an expression pedal. Reflect alters the depth of the cave and also the regeneration of the reverb. This acts as a feedback setting and will go as far as self-oscillation if initiated by a higher level user. Increase it to get more echo. Finally, Mix alters the alchemical balance between the input signal and the effect. Afterneath never mutes the original signal, but does reduce the level of the input signal as you increase this setting. The Afterneath has an all-analog audio path, an all-digital delay path, a buffered bypass with Flex-Switch technology and optional trails. Each Afterneath is made by a mixture of robots and humans in Akron Cave in Ohio, USA. Modes The Mode setting changes the way the Drag setting works and the color of the LED indicates the selected mode. 1) Non-quantified: soft and non-quantified response over the entire operating range. 2) Non-quantized with variation: smooth, non-quantized response over the entire operating range but with musical variation similar to the varispeed setting of a vintage English tape delay. The Drag will shift behind any setting or CV changes, then quickly catch up with the shift. 3) Unquantized Volt / Octave: smooth and unquantized but made to line up with the 1v / octave curve to allow melodic modulation of the audio in the buffer or self-oscillation frequency control such as a voltage controlled oscillator. 4) Chromatic scale: 1v / octave quantization to the chromatic scale. 5) Major scale: 1v / octave quantization at the major scale. 6) Minor scale: 1v / octave quantization to the minor scale. 7) Pentatonic scale: 1v / octave quantization at the pentatonic scale. 8) Octaves & fifths: 1v / octave quantization to omit everything except octaves and fifths. 9) Octaves: 1v / octave quantization to omit everything except octaves.
