Guild acoustic guitar D-55E ATB Antique Burst with case
Guild acoustic guitar D-55E ATB Antique Burst with case
First introduced in 1968 as a premium special order model, the D-55 was so well received that Guild added it to the serial production line in 1974. Famously played by Tommy Smothers on the Smothers Brothers Show in the 1960s, the D-55 grew in popularity and longevity over the decades, finding its happiness in the hands of more contemporary artists like Waylon Jennings, Billie Joe Armstrong, and David Nail. The most anticipated return of an Acoustic Guild to date, the Guild D-55 is back and better than ever, staying true to all of the high-end appointments of its 1968 predecessor, including a Sitka AAA Spruce top. , solid Indian rosewood back and sides, ebony fingerboard and bridge, and nitrocellulose finish. Internal refinements include a scalloped Adirondack bracing as well as a hand-tuned dovetail neck articulation to make this generation of D-55s the lightest, loudest and most intense to date. The D-55 features Guild's most recognizable head that is fully bonded and features Guild's combination of "Peak and Shield" inlays on an ebony overlay. The matching ebony fingerboard is also fully bound and inlaid with the iconic Guild Abalone / Mother of Pearl “V-Blocks” and “Railroad” type tuners. The D-55's fingerboard rests on an all-mahogany neck with a beautiful central walnut seam running the length of the heel to the head. The D-55's Antique Burst nitro finish is hand-laid for minimum thickness and maximum resonance which will only improve with age. The preamp is the LR Baggs system and each guitar includes a hand signed Certificate of Authenticity and comes with a Premium Guild humidified hard case.
