The Lehle Mono Volume 90 is a mechanical wear-free volume pedal equipped with a high-precision magnetic pickup. This sensor uses the Hall effect, discovered by Edwin Hall, which measures the strength of a magnetic field. The Hall sensor of the Lehle Mono Volume 90 is made in Germany and precisely calibrated to the built-in magnet and the stroke of the rocking plate. The platter only moves the magnet, the distance of which is measured by the Hall sensor, which itself controls a VCA. Made in the USA, the high quality Blackmer® VCA (VCA = Voltage Controlled Amplifier) replaces the mechanical potentiometer here. The principle of the voltage controlled amplifier is based on the fact that the amplification varies according to the voltage coming from the Hall sensor. This process allows a much more precise operation than the mechanical potentiometer or the optical sensor of conventional volume pedals, especially as the potentiometer noise disappears and tedious calibration becomes superfluous. The Lehle Mono Volume 90 reproduces all the frequencies of the instrument over the entire travel of the platter. The input and output impedances always remain the same. There is therefore no treble attenuation effect as with a potentiometer. Inside the pedal, the supply voltage is rectified, filtered, stabilized and then doubled to reach 18 volts. Thus, the pedal resists very well at all levels and reaches 110 dB of dynamics. The variation in volume applied by the Lehle Mono Volume ranges from -92 to 0 dB, i.e. almost nothing up to the unit volume. The MIN button is used to set the minimum volume of Mono Volume 90, its adjustment range extends from mute (0%) to -10 dB (approximately 90%) of the original signal. The GAIN knob allows you to determine the amplification level of the signal up to +12 dB. The Lehle Mono Volume 90 operates very quietly and evenly as it is equipped with low friction sliding bearings made of high quality polymer to suppress mechanical transmissions from the chainring to the other components. An adjustment screw allows very precise adjustment of the resistance of the plate. The Lehle Mono Volume 90 also has a direct output with buffer amp. It allows you to feed a tuner, a computer music system or a second amp without coloring the sound.
